Forest advocates came out in mass to show Wall Street Investors that we won't stand for their reckless sacrifice of our climate forests 🌲

Thank you to everyone who came out to the rally and to the alternative conference yesterday and to all the partners and organizers who made this event possible!

It's almost Public Lands Day and that means it's t It's almost Public Lands Day and that means it's time to reflect and get outside!

🌲Ways to spend Public Lands Day🌲

📚 Learn: For millennia, Indigenous peoples have been and continue to be in relationship with the environments that are now federally-managed public lands. We encourage you to use resources such as @native_mvmnt as a starting point to learn about the traditional homelands of tribal nations and communities who are the original stewards of our “wild” places.

🗣️ Speak Up: Email the White House and urge President Biden to consider the 530,000+ comments calling on the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to protect mature and old-growth forests from logging and to move swiftly to finalize a new national rule to protect our essential climate forests. Use the template we’ve provided and customize your message for the greatest impact! Link in bio!

🌲 Visit: Check out @oldgrowthhikespnw to visit the remaining old-growth hikes in the so-called Willamette National Forest, created by author John Cissel and available at no cost online.

👷‍♀️ Volunteer: Join fellow public lands enthusiasts for a day of service on public lands administered by the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest. Register at the link in our bio to spend Public Lands Day cleaning up Lower Breitenbush Hot Springs, Cleator Bend Day Use Area, and nearby dispersed recreation sites. Link in bio!

🚩🌲Wall Street investors & their mega-pollute 🚩🌲Wall Street investors & their mega-polluter friends are coming to PDX for the “Who Will Own the Forest?” conference, where they’ll talk shop about investing in forests for clearcutting and green-washed climate solutions, like biomass.

Join us 9/27 for a huge protest to show these rich elites we won’t let them sacrifice our forests, communities, and climate for their profits.

Then, show up 9/28 for the #ForestsOverProfits conference in PDX.

We need real solutions to the climate crisis, not industrial logging and colonial land grabbing. We’ll learn about alternatives to corporate, profit-driven management, like Land Back & other indigenous land management systems, community forestry & land trusts, and sustainable forest management.
