Dear Secretary Haaland and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
Wolves play an essential role in the healthy, functioning ecosystems to which they are native. I vociferously oppose the trophy hunting and trapping of wolves. I urge the Fish and Wildlife Service to restore Endangered Species Act protections to wolves where these safeguards were stripped and to retain protections where they remain in place nationwide.
Wolves continue to face myriad threats, including ongoing habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, irrational vilification and killing due to misidentification. They have returned to less than 10% of their historic range in the lower 48.
Please live up to the mission of the agency to “…conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.”
