The Canada lynx is a threatened species protected by the US Endangered Species Act. This cat is less abundant in the lower 48 States than in northern Canada and Alaska due to a lower frequency of snowshoe hare habitat in the southern extent of their range.Cascadia Wildlands is very concerned about trapping, timber harvests and recreational uses such as snowmobiles in occupied or potential lynx habitat—particularly those identified as critical habitat. We are active in opposing these activities—especially timber harvests—in areas that lynx need to recover.
